I am happy to report that Bucket is still doing great! As an added bonus he slept through the night for the first time in a week!!
Needless to say Greg and I also feel less like zombies today so double yay!

Bucket is doing amazingly!! He is taking his meds with ease, walking pretty good (with light help from a harness), is resting comfortably in his new area, eating normally, and using the bathroom normally. None of this is easy but it appears that he is showing improvements.
Bucket normally sleeps in our bed and loves to cuddle. Because of this, we decided to all sleep in the living room with him. So every night we get out mats, blankets, pillows, and Fred's bed. This morning Bucket was showing how good he is and how he is improving. He woke up and as we were trying to get him ready to go out he started walking on his own over to his leash. Naturally we stopped him so that we could assist him. For those brief seconds it was amazing to see not struggle, drag his feet, or even wobble. We're praying he continues to heal fast and perfectly! Bucket had his surgery on thursday. On Friday we called for an update - I was trying to not be an insane parents who calls all the time but I was on the verge of freaking out. Bucket was able to walk a bit but hadn't eaten or gone to the bathroom.
Friday night we brought him his guilty pleasure to coax him into eating... French fries. Needless to say he ate his French fries and his dry food. Unfortunately, we had to cut our visit short because Bucket got too worked up and wanted to come home. Yes I cried through the whole experience and leaving him this way also made me cry. All he wanted was to come home and I couldn't do it yet. Saturday morning we received our update call and although he still hadn't gone pee yet they were letting us take him home. We picked him up at11:30 and he was definitely ready to come home and lay in mommys lap. The minute we walked into our yard he went pee. Yay!! Next up was the happy reunion between him and his brother then right to his resting area. Bucket has been resting, eating, going to the bathroom, and walking a bit. He is amazing!! We are so grateful for him and his brother!! A huge thank you to the Massachusetts veterinary referral hospita and also the Andover animal hospitall!! This week has been excruciating! Our beloved beagle, Bucket had a ruptured disc and a bulging disc. He wasn't able to walk real well, couldn't stand for long, and also has arthritis in his knees.
We had gone to our regular vet, he referred us to the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital. They ran x-rays, had him seen by a neurologist, and decided that he needed to have an MRI the next day. He went back in to the hospital and was seen by a cardiologist, had an MRI done, and had surgery. Bucket went through the surgery and I am happy to report that he is walking on his own this morning, and if all things continue to go well he should be home tomorrow. The hardest parts are hopefully behind us but we still have a long way to go. Bucket will need to be kept in a small area, he shouldn't walk much, and definitely can't jump or use stairs for the next month. Greg and I are both trying to come up with good ways for us to keep him calm, keep him safe, and be there for him. We already have several options for him to lay on, and a play pen for him to stay in - he hates crates and hasn't been in one (besides his hospital stay) for 7 years. We also need to watch that Fred (our shorkie baby) doesn't jump on him or wind him up. Needless to stay we have cancelled our trip to Florida so unfortunately I won't be able to write about new restaurants and/or places to visit. Our boys are and will always be our priority. Thank you to everyone who has prayed with us and sent positive thoughts. Okay all travel plans are set!!!
