Our friends were a little bit behind us so we were able to stop into Savannah for lunch at Zunzi's. We parked at a nearby garage and walked over to join in the long line of patrons. Before arriving in Savannah I was on Zunzi's website and noticed you could order online. Knowing what the wait was like we took full advantage of that online system! We ordered our food and got to walk around and get a coffee. When picking up our order we noticed that the group of people who were behind us in line was just entering the door. Yay online ordering! My conquistador sandwich was more than plentiful with chicken and the combination of sauces was savory and acidic. It was delicious! Greg ordered the Boerewors on a roll which is a type of sausage. The sandwich was so good he actually finished the whole thing!

We continued our drive to Hilton Head and had great weather, unlike our friends who got stuck in more downpours. When we arrived at the Westin Hilton Head Resort it was a little chaotic. During our one night stay there looked to be three weddings going on. Our friends got hassled a bit when trying to use handicapped parking and Greg had a far walk back to the resort from parking our car.
The resort is pretty big and definitely not the most convenient to navigate. We had a long walk to our room from check-in and even longer walk to get to the elevator to take us down to the pool and beach area.
Our room was clean, updated, and offered plenty of space. We had a small entryway, bathroom, king bed, desk, table, and couch.
Around 4:30 we were making our way to the beach. The first thing we noticed was that the staff at the bar near the pool weren't very friendly. They also didn't have individual bottles of apple juice for kids.
When trying to get to the beach we had to cut through two wedding groups waiting to start their ceremonies. It is not the best idea to block all handicap accessible walkways with weddings. When we finally made it to the beach the staff were putting away all the chairs and umbrellas. We decided it would be best to head back to the pool area with the kids. The bar area also closed up early while we were there. It was two weeks before memorial day, a weekend, and sunset wasn't until after 8 pm so why is everything closing up early?
We had a reservation for dinner at The Carolina Room. After a few minutes wait we were shown to our table and given water. The tap water was undrinkable in our opinion because all we could taste was chlorine.
For starters, we ordered two different types of chicken wings which were okay but not memorable. My steak was overcooked and cold but since we hardly saw our waiter I just ate it anyway. Greg ordered a chicken fried bison steak which he did enjoy.
After dinner, we went back up to our room and said our good nights as Greg and I were leaving at 4 am. Unfortunately, one or multiple weddings weren't going to let us a good night sleep. We aren't sure if it was a wedding singer or if it was karaoke but Total Eclipse of My Heart was being blasted right at our room.
In the end, we all agreed that the resort is very nice, the beach is pretty, but the quality of food and service is lacking! We would not return nor recommend a stay at this property.
