May 2017 1.5 hours west of Boston you will enter Springfield MA. Our destination for the day was the Springfield Museums and specifically the Amazing World of Dr Seuss. We pre-purchased tickets online but found that the museums weren't incredibly busy during our visit. Our first stop was the sculpture garden in the middle of the museums. Today there also happened to be a chalk art festival on the grounds. There were several very impressive pieces being created by local artists. We played and took photos with all of the incredible sculptures and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The 5 of us went into the Amazing World of Dr Seuss at our scheduled time and handed our passes to the employee. The basement level is an arts and crafts room for kids and those that are kids at heart. Today visitors had the option to make a paper sock.
On the main level it's a Dr Seuss play-land! We sat on, with, and in some of the sculptures! We also read and watched all of the interactive elements. On the top floor picture taking is limited but the pieces of Dr Seuss history are awesome. We looked at personal belongings, sculptures, sketches, and letters to his nephew. We highly recommend a visit to the Amazing World of Dr Seuss as well as wandering around the Springfield Museums.
