Kanab UT to Zion National Park

This review took place in October 2016.

We made breakfast at our AirBnb this morning and then hopped in the car and made our way to Zion National Park. We knew that pets weren't allowed on the bus in the park nor on the trails but we were okay with getting a glance at the area and exploring other pet friendly areas. 

Thanks to the beauty of Highway 9 we didn't have the feeling we were being left out by not being able to go to the trails in Zion. We went past areas where you could see for miles, past a Buffalo ranch, tunnels, and so many high and low viewpoints. We stopped at so many places along the way and finally made our way to the visitors center for some shopping. Greg and I both agree we'd love to go back without Fred and do some hiking!

On our way back to Kanab we detoured to Coral Pink Sand National Park.  Before we went to the park we had to make a stop at a cheeky little restaurant. Thunderbird restaurant is "Home of the Ho-Made Pies." So naturally we stopped for pictures and for a pie to go.

Here we are at Coral Pink Sand National Park. The color of the sand is phenomenal and this was my first time visiting Sand Dunes. We frolicked around a bit climbing up and down the dunes until the skies opened up and decided to soak us! Running back up the dunes to our car wasn't what we were hoping for but it made for an adventure!

Back in Kanab we went for a late lunch at Big Al's Burgers. It's a pleasant surprise when a local restaurant is willing to accommodate my dairy free and gluten free needs! We all ordered burgers, french fries, onion rings, and lots of their delicious fry sauce!!! Our food came up quickly and we were able to eat at their outside picnic tables. 

To end the night we stayed in at our AirBnb and just had some light snacks and then packed up to head to Moab the next morning!
